Years ago I was told that the small vertical nib on the top front end designated a saw made in Sheffield England. Does anyone have any information regarding this? Thanks Bill
I think the nib is on a lot more hand saws that just those made in Sheffield. It may have started there (who knows?) and spread to the other colonies? But nobody really knows what it’s for…but I still put them on my handsaws that I make!
