UHHHHH?  Vinegar and baking soda??  Won’t one neutralize the other.  Acid, base chemical, neutral solution?

Just my memories from high school chemistry.

Back to my comments about basic oils.

I’ll put olive oil on the pasta thank you.

Stupid simple petroleum oil of the tools.

Wax and oil in my shop.

Caning wax for the soles, paste wax for the bodies, and plain old oil for the moving parts.

Make me a minimalist?  YEP!  I don’t want to keep exotic oils in a strong box ’cause they are so expensive.  :)

    Stanley #4

My first plane was a #4C.  It has served me well, and led to adding many more. Most needed a restoration, but so what?  The pleasure of taking a bit of history and turning it into a valued addition to my hand tool collection is well worth the time.  Besides that, the resto allows me to fully understand the function of each plane.

Guess that I'm stuck in the past.

I have an assortment of old chisels.  The ones I use the most are Pexto, Stanley 750s, and (my favs) W. Butcher cast steel.

I use water stones, a hard Arkansas, and a strop.

I’ve not been too excited about the “exotic” metals.  Just me, but mine work well.

    You WIN!!

Those will clean up nicely.  Epoxy the crack, sharpen the chisels, and gloat.

Now, show us what you can do with them.  :)
