I’m quite interested in refurbishing old panel hand saws, so I needed a new way to store and display them.
I looked at a lot of other saw tills, but decided to just create one from my own mind.
Because of the dark milk paint shade, the dovetail joints aren’t very visible…but trust me, they are there, and yes, they were cut by hand!
And here is the saw till hanging in my new workshop:

Hi Joshua, I just came across your website and i am truly impressed with the amount of work you have put into your site. I am just making the transition into working wood by hand…long term big machine guy for a while. I can use all the help I can get, i will work my way through your site. I like the saw till and I think I may do something similar. Thanks again!
Doug, I’m so happy to hear that you have found my website helpful. I’m glad that you’re making the transition to traditional woodworking. It’s so satisfying working the wood by hand, just as our ancestors did. I hope you subscribe to my website and youtube channel, and also spread the word to your friends!
Hi Josh,
I just wanted to say thank you for your site. I’m a career professional woodworker, now a general manager of a commercial cabinet shop. That kind of work is a long way from “Real” Woodworking, and I’m hoping some hand tool woodworking will be just what I need to revive my passion for woodworking.
Thanks again!
Gary, I’m so glad that you’ve found my woodworking website, and hope you continue to contribute your comments!
Josh, what spacing do you have those saws at? In the process of building my own and that spacing looks perfect.
Oh, it doesn’t matter. Just space them out so the handles won’t bump into each other. And just space them evenly across the size of your till.
Hey Joshua, great saw till, I have a question about the paint, I’m guessing it’s a milk paint that was painted on thin so the color of the wood would come through some what. Can you email me the name of the color, and how you painted that till?
Sincerely, Scott Stith
Hi Scott,
I didn’t thin down the Milk Paint. That’s just how it works out at the normal mixture. The brand is real milk paint. I think it was the Navy blue color…sorry, it’s been so long.
