This Moravian workbench design is based on an 18th century workbench found at the Old Salem Museum, which is a Moravian settlement in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Very interesting. This would have been the perfect violin bench to have over the past 60 years in business. I have an antique wood carving bench that I have used which is not portable and now that I am beginning to retire and may have to move, this bench would be a perfect solution. Yes, the Moravian Workbench would be great for violin making! I don’t think there would be a need for wheels, as the bench can easily be slid, like we do in our school. You can email us regarding a visit. Please see our contact page.
